“BALL ABUTMENT H‑3” refers to a ball attachment abutment with a gingival (height) specification of approximately 3 mm. This is a standard component used in implant‑supported overdenture systems.

 What a Ball Abutment Is

A ball abutment (also called a ball attachment) is a type of implant prosthetic component designed to provide retention for removable overdentures. It has a spherical head that fits into a corresponding female housing (with O‑ring or nylon insert) inside the denture. This ball‑and‑socket arrangement gives mechanical retention while allowing limited movement and ease of insertion/removal.

Breaking Down “H‑3”

  • H → stands for height (often gingival height or collar height) of the abutment above the implant platform.

  • 3 → typically means 3.0 mm of height.

Different heights allow the ball abutment to compensate for variations in soft tissue thickness and implant depth so that the prosthetic dentures fit properly. A 3 mm height is a common middle‑range size used when the gum/soft tissue level requires that amount of extension.

Why Different Heights Matter

Choosing the right abutment height (like H‑3) ensures:

  • Adequate projection above the gum so the denture can engage properly

  • Comfort and hygiene space

  • Proper distribution of forces on the implant and prosthesis
